Adultpunctumcan be distinguished from its closest relatives (basal medial cell mainly or wholly devoid of microtrichiae, male fore femur with a spinose tubercle at about apical quarter), by the extremely reduced pruinosity on anepimeron (see thorax), single dorsocentral seta, and by the form of the male surstylus which is relatively broad and has long setae along the inner margin (see abdomen).
